About the evening
The Haldwani show is a stop on the Heritage of Sufism India Tour. The ticket page describes an evening of Sufi songs, Punjabi folk and traditional compositions in the Wadali family style, starting at 7:30 pm and running about two and a half hours. Tickets went on sale on 23 October 2026, and on 1 November all five categories were still available.
The ticket page does not name a local organiser or an opening act, and it does not say whether the concert will be in the banquet hall or out on the lawn. In mid-January that matters, because Haldwani evenings are cold, so we will add it here when it is known.
Who Lakhwinder Wadali is
Lakhwinder Wadali was born on 20 April 1978 in Guru Ki Wadali, a village near Amritsar, into the family of the Wadali Brothers. His father is the Padma Shri singer Ustad Puran Chand Wadali, and he learned under his father and his uncle, Ustad Pyare Lal Wadali. He sings the Punjabi Sufi kalaam of Baba Bulleh Shah, Shah Hussain, Baba Farid, Guru Nanak Dev and Sultan Bahu, and is known for the long alaaps and taans of the family’s Patiala gharana training.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi gave him its Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar in 2012. His own website says he was the first Punjabi artist to perform in the courtyard of the Red Fort, in 2023, and that he sang in the courtyard of the Taj Mahal in 2025.

Getting to Golden Palms, and back at 10 pm
Golden Palms is on Rampur Road at Phool Chaur, near the Maruti Suzuki showroom, on the way out of Haldwani towards Rudrapur. By Google Maps on 1 November 2026 it is 5.3 km, about 11 minutes, from the Haldwani Roadways bus stand and 11.2 km, about 22 minutes, from Kathgodam railway station along NH 109. The venue has a Google rating of 4.6 from 103 reviews, and our venue listing has its phone number and photos.
The show should end around 10 pm. A cab back into Haldwani is a short ride. Driving up to Nainital or Bhimtal after that means the hill road late on a cold January night, so if you are not local, sleep in Haldwani and go up in the morning.
Where to stay for the night
- Hotels on Rampur Road: the closest rooms. Our directory counts 8 hotels, homestays and guest houses within 1.5 km of the venue.
- Hotels near the bus stand: about 5 km away, if you come by Roadways bus.

Same week in Kumaon
The concert falls in the week of Makar Sankranti. Bageshwar’s Uttarayani Mela, Kumaon’s big winter fair, should open on 14 or 15 January, and Haldwani families make ghughute, the fried sweet dough birds of Ghughutiya, the same week. If you want a longer trip, Bageshwar is 160 km from Haldwani.
What we could not confirm
On 1 November 2026 the ticket page named no organiser or supporting act, did not say whether the show is in the hall or on the lawn, how many seats come with a table, or whether there is parking at the venue. We will add these when they are published. If you know, write to hih.editorial@gmail.com.
