The short answer: six hotels sit within 600 metres of Walkway Mall on Kaladhungi Road in Haldwani. Fortune Walkway Mall, a member of ITC Hotels Group, is the only one inside the mall, at ₹6,500–₹12,000 a night. The other five are a short walk away: Hotel Maplewood Premier (300 m, from ₹3,400), Hotel Castle Inn (550 m, from ₹1,299), Hotel Friends (480 m, from ₹1,199), Hotel Park Land (520 m, from ₹1,499) and Hotel Surya (600 m, from ₹999). The mall is 6 km from Kathgodam Railway Station, about 15 minutes by car.

If you want familiar brands and modern comforts without going up to Nainital, nowhere else in Haldwani puts so many of them in one place.

What you give up. You miss the boutique character of Bamori Malli, where Hotel North House and Virus Bistro are, and the easy walk to Bhotia Bazaar, though Hotel Friends gets you part of the way. You also lose the head start into the hills that the Nainital Road hotels give you.
