Hotel Maplewood Premier stands on a corner plot on Bareilly-Nainital Road, near Tehri Pulia, at the eastern edge of the Haldwani municipal area. The location suits a wedding party well. Kathgodam Junction, where the baraat usually arrives by train, is 2.5 km away. The Haldwani Roadways bus stand, where the Volvo buses from Delhi and Bareilly come in, is also 2.5 km away. Walkway Mall, handy for last-minute shopping, is 1.8 km, and Vatika Banquet Hall, the mid-range wedding venue most often paired with Maplewood, is 2.5 km along the same Nainital Road.
Bareilly-Nainital Road is a four-lane state highway with a wide median, and traffic moves reasonably well until 9 PM. The entrance porch faces the highway, and the rooms sit back behind a small driveway and a strip of parking. Front-facing rooms on the second floor hear the traffic, so ask for a back-facing room on the third floor if you want quiet.
The parking lot has a tiled surface, an attendant and room for 25 cars. That is enough for a wedding group arriving in a convoy of 15 to 20 cars. For a baraat of more than 30 cars, the hotel arranges extra parking at the commercial complex next door.
There are twenty-six rooms in two categories. Most are Premium AC, and the rest are Executive, which are slightly larger and add a sofa and a worktable. Both come with a king-size bed as standard, and the staff will switch it to twin beds on request at no charge.
Premium AC. These cost Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,500 if you walk in. Each has a king bed, a split AC, an attached bathroom with a rain shower, a 32-inch flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi (3 to 8 Mbps), a kettle with free tea and coffee sachets, an in-room safe and a single armchair, and some rooms also have a mini-fridge. The wardrobe is a standard 6-foot one with a mirror, and you can ask for an ironing board. Rooms measure 280 to 320 square feet.
Executive. These cost Rs 6,500 to Rs 8,500 if you walk in. On top of the Premium AC fittings you get a two-seater sofa, a small worktable with a desk lamp and a slightly bigger bathroom. Rooms measure 360 to 400 square feet, and the hotel will put in an extra bed for a third person on request, which helps a family of three.
In both categories, guests praise cleanliness more than anything else in their online reviews. On Google the hotel averages 4.6 out of 5 across 1,068 reviews (5 October 2026).
The AC banquet hall is the heart of Maplewood's wedding business. It seats 150 guests for dinner or holds 200 standing for a reception, with a stage at one end and a buffet alcove along the side wall. The terrace above it is a second event space for 100 seated or 150 standing, which works for a mehendi or sangeet on a separate evening before the wedding.
Food starts at about Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,200 a plate for a basic vegetarian menu of six starters, eight main courses and two desserts, and goes up to Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,200 for the premium non-vegetarian menu with live counters and a biryani station. The hotel does its own catering. A bar is allowed once you pay the standard Uttarakhand Excise permit fee.
Why families choose Maplewood for a wedding. The biggest advantage is that the baraat can stay where the wedding happens. With twenty-six rooms, 50 to 80 guests can sleep at the venue, depending on how many extra beds go in. The mehendi or sangeet can be held on the terrace, the pheras in the banquet hall and the farewell breakfast next morning in the restaurant, so nobody has to be ferried between venues. For a mid-sized wedding of 150 to 200 guests, having everything in one place makes a real difference.
Where Maplewood falls short for weddings. There is no lawn next to the hall. The banquet handles indoor functions well, but you cannot hold an outdoor welcome or a haldi under the open sky. For a three-day wedding with a daytime haldi, families often book Vatika Hall as well, 2.5 km away with both a lawn and a hall, and split the functions between the two. The other gap is that the hotel has no panel of decorators of its own, so families bring their own decoration team.

The in-house restaurant serves North Indian and Chinese food, with a short South Indian section at breakfast. It is open from 7 AM to 11 PM for hotel guests and outside diners alike, and room service comes from the same kitchen. The dinner menu has around 24 main courses at Rs 280 to Rs 520 a dish, and the kitchen will make a Kumaoni thali if you order it 4 hours ahead.
Here is our honest view after two meals. On days when the hotel is more than 60 percent full, breakfast is a buffet and a good one, with chole bhature, idli-sambhar, an omelette station, four kinds of bread, butter and jam, fresh fruit, and tea and coffee. When the hotel is quiet, breakfast is served a la carte instead, which is slower, and the bread is not quite as fresh. Dinner gets the North Indian staples right every time, notably the dal makhani, the paneer butter masala and the mixed vegetable jalfrezi.
The Chinese section is where the restaurant falls short. It is ordinary Indo-Chinese cooking, fine by Haldwani standards but nothing special, so skip it and order the North Indian dishes.
Maplewood accepts Aadhaar as the main government ID for both partners, and the front desk keeps a written house policy on file. Couples check in as a matter of routine and are not asked for a marriage certificate. The policy is the same on the day and night shifts, which removes the usual worry people have about informal lodges.
For a couple's weekend in the upper mid-range, Maplewood is a comfortable choice. The Premium AC room at Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,500 is fairly priced, the back-facing rooms on the third floor are the quietest for sleeping, and with breakfast and dinner in-house you do not need to go out to eat.

Against Fortune Walkway Mall (ITC Group). Fortune is at the top end, with 60 rooms, a heated indoor pool, a spa and rates of Rs 5,500 to Rs 12,000. Maplewood is roughly two-thirds its size, costs about three-quarters as much and has no pool. For a holiday with children, Fortune has the better facilities. Against Hotel North House. North House is a small boutique hotel with an eco-luxury feel, at Rs 5,500 to Rs 7,800. Hotel Maplewood Premier earns our 4.0 rating because it does what a good 3-star hotel at this price should do, and does it well, without trying to be something it is not. Cleanliness, speed of service, the running of the banquet and the breakfast spread all stay at a steady standard. Online reviewers are unusually united in praising the finish of the rooms and the staff. Their complaints are the usual ones for a hotel of this class, such as a slow check-in on a wedding day and Wi-Fi that sometimes drops, and no serious problem comes up again and again.
Maplewood's weak points are that it has nothing for leisure (no pool, no spa, no gym) and no outdoor lawn for a full three-day wedding. At this price both are fair gaps rather than failures. The hotel does not sell itself as a leisure resort. It sells itself as an upper mid-range hotel for weddings and stays, and at that it delivers.
